JOSHUA & JERICHO
Both our volunteers and kids have had a wonderful time learning about the promise God gave Joshua and the Israelites in this year’s VBS. Their lessons, taken from Joshua 1-6, included Rahab and the Spies, Crossing the Jordan, and the Battle of Jericho. Our theme verse is from Joshua 1:9, which the kids learned in the form of a song: “Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Kristen Daley adds her special THANKS to:

Thank you to the Kathleen Trees, Sharon McCabe, Liz Ames, SethPeter Trees, Carmen Rebusmen, the ladies in the kitchen Nancy Young, Jan Smith, Iris Robuck, and Chris Meade, Leah Delgado, Lisa James, Katie Van Beek, Doug Ames and to all the teenage helpers this year.

Thank you so very much for all the time and talents helping and supporting the efforts during our week at VBS. We appreciate each of the volunteers that helped make what we think was a happy success.  The kids seemed to have fun, and that is what truly matters! We were able to accomplish much this week. We learned to find our courage and be brave even when nobody is looking! It is pleasing to God! We had a great turnout of children, eager to learn and ready for fun. We had 46 children throughout the week!  Thank you to all of the volunteers: Father Tom (He had a prayer for us every day, and he took many pictures throughout the week), Kathleen Trees, Kristen Daley, Mary Berry, Beth Williams, Katie Van Beek, Nancy Young, Carol Young, Chris Meade, Iris Robuck, Jan Smith, Rita Clements, Dot Vedder, Ms. Pat, and a host of other ladies making and baking our goodies. Thank you, a big thank you, to Seth Peter Trees and Isaac Trees for their drama performances all week.  They dressed their parts and memorized parts, and even wrote their parts for the whole week! Thank you to all the volunteers helping round up children and direct them where to go and not to go: Leah Delgado, Alex Northcott, Colten Northcott, Joe Northcott, Kristen Bowersox, Katie Bowersox, Meghan Young, Maddi Young, Carmen Rebusmen, Bekkah Shuniak, Allison Sabbah, Natalie Christensen, Tucker Young, Ella Kate Daley, Delaney Dejarlais, Joel Trees, Ivey Lynn Young, Cobe Smalley, and Caden Smalley, David Lossing.  Thank you to Bonnie Binneveld for helping with the youngest of campers. Thank you also to David Smith for taking pictures and video to promote our church to the community. Thank you to Ronnie Young and Ferrell Young for cooking our hot dogs for our Friday lunch. We had our youngest camper to date, we believe … Maggie Delgado at just 12 weeks old! Everyone is surely growing up! Thank you for a wonderful Christ filled week, we truly appreciate the help!

Children 4 years old through entering 5th grade are invited to our Vacation Bible School, Monday – Friday, July 14-18 from 9:30 am to noon. We are planning an exciting week! The day begins in the church with an opening prayer, a Bible Point Message, and a sing-along. There will be a Drama/Bible Message “Act it Out!”, arts and crafts with all kinds of creations and games and fun food for snack time. Every day will conclude in the church for a closing prayer and a sing-along. Our service projects include stocking our “Pantry” for the Leesburg Food Bank and our “Medicine Cabinet” for the children in Jamaica served by the Jamaica Medical Mission. We will need canned food items, children’s medicines and toiletries. Most needed items include children’s Tylenol, Motrin, travel size shampoo, cotton balls, Neosporin, diaper rash ointment, bug spray, sunscreen and toothbrushes/toothpaste. Children should come dressed in casual clothes that can withstand activities that involve paint, glitter and glue. The week will conclude with a “Water Day” and hot dog lunch for children and parents on Friday, July 18. Children should wear their bathing suits under their clothes that day and bring a towel. Remember the SUNSCREEN! There is room for all parishioners to participate by volunteering to help, by donating toilet paper or paper towel rolls and indoor plants (that you will get back) for decorating. We also need donations of cookies and small sandwiches to help with snacks. We look forward to seeing you at Vacation Bible School!
